Resource consents and legislation
In 2004 Transwaste was granted resource consent to operate the Kate Valley Landfill for 35 years, under 23 resource consents with 324 conditions that cover operations and environmental compliance. The primary consenting organisations are the Environment Canterbury Regional Council (ECan) and the Hurunui District Council (HDC). There are several pieces of legislation (Acts of Parliament) that apply to the Landfill that also place obligations on Transwaste.
